Resogun PS4 Review

Resogun, the successor to Housemarque's Super Stardust is a perfect example of what the next gen console is all about, with it's simplistic design, vibrant colours and pick up and play controls, every Playstation gamer should try out this new Sidescrolling Shooter.
Since playing Resogun back in September 2013 at Eurogamer, I knew it was my most anticipated game for the PS4, I could not have imagined how right I was in first thinking that. The crisp 1080p graphics look amazing and the sound keeps within Housemarque's iconic electronica theme within its games.
Resogun PS4 Review
Resogun is a game that everyone can just pick up and play, depending on the difficulty it can be enjoyed by the most casual of gamers or even the most hardcore, players will see themselves competing with friends to get to the top of the leaderboards, with a choice of three different characters with different stats theres is always one that each player will lean towards.
Although the primary goal for each level is to defeat all enemies using an array of different techniques, Overdrive, Bombs and Boosting, there are humans that can be saved to boost the score and give bonus points to the players final score.
The problems with Resogun are only minor but may put some people off, it has a lack of modes which makes the game easily the shortest of the PS4 games, if playing on the lowest difficulty setting only takes 30 minutes to complete, this is a big drawback for certain gamers but for those wanted to max out the trophies and go for the platinum it takes a bit longer, my total play time after obtaining all trophies was about 10 hours which for an indie game with one mode isn't worst thing ever. Resogun PS4 Review
There is a coop mode in a which a friend can join and together you can compete to get the highest score in a session this adds more competitive sport about the game and keep players coming back to try and get those extra hundreds of points.
Housemarque has done something very special with Resogun, in creating a very addictive shooter though it lacks in substance of different modes it makes up for with is competitive nature and amazing soundtrack, going forward I can see them releasing a DLC package that will contain different modes just like Super Stardust did on PS3 but i think they should have thought about what they would be delivering straight out of the gates.
There is something about Resogun that it always seems to pull players back into it, even after completing the game I felt the need to go back and try and top a friends score or even just to mess about on the hardest difficulty to try and top my personal best. This addictive nature of the game is what drives it, and although very simple it is such a sophisticated game that isn't going to leave any players minds for the next few years and I can see it as the classic titles that the PS4 rocketed out of the games with.
