Outlast Preview
Outlast, the first person survival horror from developer Red Barrels is coming to Playstation 4 on February 5th, but what can players expect when they pick the game up.
Plot
The story that revolves Outlast, takes up on following Miles Upshur, a freelance journalist who receives a tip off about Mount Massive Asylum, a psychiatric hospital owned and operated by the Murkoff corporation. Upon entering the asylum he finds the bodies of the staff strewn up and is warned to get out while he can before the inmates known as "The Varients" find him. The main antagonist of the game is an inmate by the name of Martin, who has taken it upon himself to be called Father Martin, he believes that he is a priest and thinks that Miles was sent to the asylum by god to be a witness to his cult and must stay within the grounds.

Gameplay
The gameplay is what makes this horror game very unique and also genuinely terrifying, there is no combat except from a few scripted sequences is which Miles pushes enemies away which means the player must hide and run from everything, the only edge Miles has over the inmates is that he can vault and climb over objects and slide for quick escapes, all of which the inmates cannot do, in addition to these the player can survive encounters by hiding in lockers though some inmates will check so players have to be very cautious. The game is already very daunting and not easy get through without being caught but the developers also in the feature that the asylum is almost pitch black by which Miles can only navigate by using the night vision function on his video camera, this cannot be used while moving so the player has to think about when to use it as it gives the location of Miles away.
Outlast Dark
Outlast is shaping up to be one of the big games that is catching players eyes, with its exemplification of what it means to be a horror game and how it pulls off the cat and mouse act is very clever, be on the look out for when this launches on Playstation 4 and remember if you are a subscriber to Playstation Plus you can get the game for free, until then here is the launch trailer.
