The Machinist dps role is the gunning class and not only uses a gun but also has an array of gadgets to help push dps or support allies.

Recap over**

How does the development team choose the new jobs?
Before choosing a specific job they have to think about how it will play in parties and consider gameplay. First this decide on the role, then it takes one year to add one new job to the game.

The second step allows the dev team to look at the role and how the new one will differentiate to the other roles in the class.

For step three they consider player feedback, for example when choosing the Dark Knight the dev team were stuck between choosing Dark Knight or Samurai, in the end the Dark Knight was most wanted.

Step four sees all the devs review the job actions, by playing around with them in game and determine whether it will work with the rest of the jobs.

Step five is all about deciding which weapon the job will use; for example the weapon has to look good during combat and action while also looking practical while sheathed.

Also shown off, were some early concepts for the weapons that will be utilised by the new jobs in Heavensward.

Not only are new jobs being added, but older jobs are getting a level cap increase from 50 to 60, because of this new actions and abilities will be added for both deciples of land and hand. A new system for hand being implemented called the specialist.
