hyrule-warriors-impa

If you head over to Nintendo right now chances are you’ll catch some of the huge Nintendo Treehouse live-stream that is happening today. The stream is focusing on upcoming games and most notably Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Hyrule Warriors. It’s been unveiled throughout the stream that Hyrule Warriors will be gaining a new mode in the name of Challenge Mode.
The new mode has been described as “adventure mode on steroids” and will include endless levels consisting of goals. The idea is to complete as many of these challenges as possible and the good news is there isn’t a fail state for the mode either.
Also mentioned from earlier today, Hyrule Warriors would be getting the dreaded day one DLC. But sadly, after the reveal of the new mode, it was referred as a patch instead. Our bets are on the free side of things here. The patch will add a number of different things as well as the Challenge Mode, adding more flexibility on the music choice as well as the availability of new weapons.
Hyrule Warriors is set to launch exclusively on Wii U on September 19 in Europe, Australia on September 20, and North America September 26.

Dying Light Launching Across Platforms Earlier Than Expected - September 11, 2014

dying-light-2

Dying Light, the upcoming parkour zombie game will be getting a release earlier than expected as it was revealed today. News comes from developer Techland and also the publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment who confirmed that the game will be launching on January 27. The game will be several days earlier than the planned February release.
Dying Light was originally expected this year but like some games that players are anticipating, it got a delayed release for February 2015; due to the developer needing more time to polish several unknown elements of the game’s natural movement. The delay was first announced in May and was disappointing to all fans who were excited for a fall release.
The delay has no doubt made the game run much better as well as giving the developer more time to polish everything that needs ironing out. For now at least players can enjoy the game somewhat earlier expected. Dying Light will launch on Windows PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 and will surely change how zombie games are played.

Season Pass Details for Sunset Overdrive Revealed - September 9, 2014

Sunset-Overdrive-Captain-Ahab

It’s pretty much guaranteed these days that games will be updated with DLC packs, and it’s no different for upcoming shooter Sunset Overdrive. Today publisher Microsoft and developer Insomniac Games revealed that the season pass for Sunset Overdrive will include two campaign add-ons, new weapons, character outfits and so much more.
The two campaigns will add new locations with story missions, new bosses and new amps to give players more choice on how to kill all the evil mercenaries in the city. The weapons pack will include four new weapons which will no doubt be a nice addition to a player’s arsenal. The most interesting item included is the Chaos Squad objectives that require Xbox Live Gold membership. With the membership, the assumption is that it would seem this is content for some online co-op.
Those who purchase the season pass though will have a little extra and will get access to six character outfits, two amps and two traps alongside the games release. The season pass will set players back $19.99. The single packs have not had any individual pricing, but then again, we don’t know exactly what will be in what to determine pricing. Perhaps more concrete pricing will release in the coming weeks leading to launch. Sunset Overdrive launches exclusively on Xbox One in North America on October 28 and October 31 in Europe.

Destiny: Day One Patch and What to Expect - September 8, 2014

Destiny

With only hours until the launch of Destiny, players are entering the calm before the storm. But before the game has launched, Bungie has made some tweaks and the studio will be rolling out a day one patch that is bound to make the game better for everyone and give everyone the most up-to-date experience.
The massive patch included a number of different changes including weapons balances and weapon fixes on all consoles. Also included in the patch notes, Bungie has gone on to say it has tweaked class abilities and they have made a number of changes to the crucible and the PVP maps to make the experience better. It seems that the beta may have had something to do with this, but whatever the reason, players should get amped for the launch.
Destiny launches officially tomorrow though the servers are open now for those who have the game early. Destiny players can pick up the game for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Don’t Rule Out an Alan Wake Sequel Anytime Soon - September 5, 2014

alan-wake-bonus

While the focus for Remedy Entertainment is currently on Quantum Break, the possibility for an Alan Wake sequel is not unlikely. News came today from Sam Lake the Creative Director at Remedy. Remedy are best known for creating the Max Payne series, though since Rockstar purchased the rights to that series all eyes have been waiting for a new Alan Wake.
“You never know about the future and as we have said about Alan Wake, the sequel didn’t work out at this point. But definitely we are looking for opportunities to do more, someday, when the time is right,” said Lake.
Earlier this year word got out that Alan Wake 2 could be a reality; although the timing was off and they couldn’t find the right funding or partners to make it. Since then it was put on hold rather than a mediocre iteration see a release.
Sam Lake seems optimistic though “The sequel didn’t work out at this point, but definitely we are looking for opportunities to do more someday, when the time is right.” So players will just have to patient until the time where we step into the shoes of Alan Wake once more; which if things go well for Quantum Break could be sooner than we think.
