Robin Williams Memorial in World of Warcraft - September 4, 2014

world-of-warcraft-robin-williams-npc-1

The whole world was hit with a wave of sadness when news broke that Robbin Williams had passed away. Since learning of the news, players across the gaming community have petitioned to get memorials in different games. The first was begging Nintendo to get an NPC in the new Zelda game, though it doesn’t look likely it will happen. Players have now found a hint to what could be a big memorial in World of Warcraft instead.

During the beta for Warlords of Draenor, players stumbled upon numerous NPC character models that appear under the name Robin and seem to play homage to Williams’ characters. There is also a big Genie tribute in the game.

A lamp can be found on an island near Talador. By interacting with “the ever burning lamp”, a genie will appear, the lines he recites are important lines from Disney’s Aladdin. “Infinite Cosmic Power” and “itty bitty living space”. This is a sure fire nod to the late actor and is bound the keep his light burning on and a great way to pay homage to a World of Warcraft gamer.

First Trailer for Resident Evil Remake Unveiled - September 2, 2014

While fans anxiously await the next instalment into the Resident Evil series; today we get a first look at it with this new trailer. It seems Capcom are trying something as a kind of test to see what the audience wants, by remaking the original  Resident Evil  for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the previous-gen consoles.

Though the game won't be based off the original PS1 classic, instead Capcom are opting to build the new remake off the GameCube remake, so we're getting a remake of the remake.

The first look trailer delves into the dark mansion fans know and love, with the release of this and Resident Evil: Revelations Capcom is giving a great fan service and showing it still know where it's horror roots are. Maybe when Resident Evil 7 is released it will truly return to form.
The game is due out early 2015 and is exciting fans now, be sure to keep an eye out for it when it launches across Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Minecraft for PS4 and Xbox One Building to Launch Date - September 2, 2014

Posted September 2, 2014 by

Since the announcement of Minecraft coming to the new console players have been exciting. The new processor power means that the Minecraft worlds will be much larger to any comparison against all other version. Along with this, there will be more to do and customising will have no limits, at least we think to this point that the sky is the limit with more powerful versions. Though it’s not been an easy ride getting them ported over; so much so that developer 4J Studios has been constantly delaying with numerous problems.
Last week it seemed we were on the precipice of a release date but then another wall was hit when the PS4 version failed to meet certification standards from Sony. All seemed lost until today where 4J has stated the final testing phases are in order for both consoles. Good news then as this could be the final push needed to finally get the game on the gorgeous new consoles.
What about Vita then? Well according to 4J there is still a “bit more work to do” no time frame on when it will be ready but with the apparent imminent release of the PS4 version it will just be a simple case if remote play.
We think getting our build on in the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 versions are literally around the corner.

Meet Ratbag in New Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor Trailer - August 29, 2014

middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-4

Monolith have today released a new trailer for its upcoming action RPG; Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and it pits together the two most unlikely allies in the most unsavory of settings. While traversing the plains of Mordor Tallion will stumble upon a down of his luck Orc that is destined to die, Ratbag will help Tallion reach his goal by teaching him the way of the Orc.
While the concept is strangely similar to that of The Lord of the Rings Gollum; it seems Monolith are putting their own spin on it by having a more active travel guide and a backstabbing bodyguard to the Orc’s that’s good news for the lone Gondorian. As you play you will take Ratbag from a snivelling orc to a mighty war chief that will help influence the others which Tallion is hell bent in taking down.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is slated for a September 30 release across PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Treacherous Territories Come to The Last of Us Remastered Today - August 29, 2014

the-last-of-us-remastered-multiplayer

The Last of Us Remastered already contains all of the content that was released for the PS3 version, but today it’s the veil has been lifted in even more content being added to the online multiplayer Factions mode. The Treacherous Territories pack includes a number of new maps that player will have to fight, craft and survive their way through.
The good news for all players is that the pack is absolutely free; no strings attached, and that you can download it right now from the PlayStation store. It’s good to see that even a year on from the original release of the game the online is still being supported, hats off to you Naughty Dog.
The new maps that are included are as follows; Beach, which is aptly named for being a map that is a beach with a ship that has come ashore, no doubt a lot of fighting for the high ground will be there, while also sneaking through the caverns of the cliff faces.
Financial Plaza looks like a couple of the original maps made for factions, a small built up area littered with abandoned vehicles and building to flank the enemy team; at least it will give a player another map to figure out new strategies.
While it’s not been mentioned the other map packs did include some new trophies to obtain though with this pack only containing two maps it would seem if we got any it wouldn’t shake the world.

New Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Type-0 Trailer - August 26, 2014

theatrhythmfeat

Over the last few weeks, Square Enix have been unveiling a selection of trailers named Legacy of Music for it’s upcoming rhythm sequel Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. The trailers have been highlighting certain installments into the series and focusing on some of the songs from that specific series that players will find in the game.
Today’s trailer focuses on the highly elusive Final Fantasy Type-0, which was originally released on PSP back in 2011 in Japan stores. Up until June, the game was not hunted to see a western release, though at E3 it was surprisingly announced as a HD Remaster coming to PS4 and Xbox One.
This new Legacy of Music trailer highlights the track ‘We Have Arrived’, the main theme of Type-0 and will no doubt hype up fans of the series for what’s to come in the future. No date has been given for Type-0 as of yet but Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will be released exclusively for 3DS on September 16.

Don’t Starve Coming to PlayStation Vita Next Week - August 25, 2014

dont-starve-giant-edition

Today via the PlayStation blog, developer Klei Entertainment announced that Don’t Starve: Giant Edition will make its way to the Vita on September 2. The survival game which launched on PS4 a little over two months ago will be an exact replica and will include the Reign of Giants DLC.
Unfortunately for those who have played the PS4 version you won’t be able to cross-play. Co-founder of Klei, Jamie Cheng revealed “in order for us to get the game on Vita we had to rewrite a bunch of back end code to optimize it, because of this the saves are not compatible with the PS4.” While it’s a shame that there is no cross-play, the survival elements of the game keep the game fresh enough to play it across the two platforms. Don’t Starve: Giant Edition will cost $14.99 when it launches and as stated above will include the DLC which will add two new playable characters and giants.

Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition Review - August 25, 2014

Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition teems with content. You're getting everything from original game and its expansion, Reaper of Souls, including the incredible endless Adventure mode, the raised level cap, reworked skills, and that handy fourth passive slot. The next-gen version of the game is the definitive one; and it feels as though its been waiting for these new consoles to be released with its easier to navigate menu’s and the use of the online capabilities.

The only real issue with Diablo 3 is the story; it’s a mess of cheesiness and just plain boring. At times I found myself listening to a podcast while skipping the story scenes. Though don’t let that hold you back in the slightest, everything else is almost perfect within the gameplay.

If you have already played the game on a previous gen console or PC not to worry as you can import your character and set off in search of that pesky legendary that has been eluding you. The regular streams of loot means that now even casual players who put in a few hours a week will get the same chances as those who pile in hundreds of hours.

The well-tuned cycle of violence, to profit, to growth really shines more than ever here to. Previous-gen consoles had to make visual sacrifices to run Diablo 3’s more heated battles at a respectable frame rate. This to is no longer an issue for the PS4 and Xbox One versions. No concessions necessary at 1080p and 60 frames per second, the action looks sharp and plays smooth and is almost on par with a mid-high gaming PC.

Players who have already piled in hours in previous versions of the game can now pile some more time into the Reaper of Souls expansion pack which adds a new job class the Paladin and adding in new story and side quest content. This gives more than enough to keep anyone occupied for a long while. The Trophy/Achievement conscious players have no need to worry as the Ultimate Evil Edition of the game also holds a brand new list to unlock, and the good news is that if you play on the newer version you can go back and take your character to unlock the Trophies/Achievements on the PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts. Blizzard has really given something for all players to work towards be it in the game itself or for the virtual trophy shelf.

The most interesting new feature that has been added to the game is the nemesis AI system, wherein if you have a friend playing the game that die from a demon; the demon will proceed to enter your game to try to kill you. If it succeeds he grows in strength and will continue joining games and slaying until someone brings him down; in doing so players can happen upon some pretty powerful weapons and armour.

While it’s a new trick that changes the game up, it’s not quite enough to keep it a really big presence within the gameplay. The real star of the game is the ability to play on couch with up to three friends, tearing through angry hordes of demons that wait in the randomised dungeons that create the real backbone of the endgame of Diablo 3.

While the game was good on the previous-gen consoles this new iteration is the complete package. Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition gives console players the whole deal while adding the updated graphics and sleeker frame-rate. Though the story is very lackluster the amount of content and going into the randomized adventure mode more than makes up for it. The social features are a nice addition to the consoles that are taking the social gaming to a new level and at least here Blizzard is trying to do something that implements them. This is the uncompromised version of Diablo 3 and is a must for fans of the dungeon crawling loot collectors out there.
